Karen Edwards

With over 25 years of experience, Karen is passionate about working with brands and technologies that change our lives.

At Yahoo! Inc., Karen was the company's 17th employee and top marketing executive for six years. She served as a key force in building Yahoo as a leading global brand, overseeing marketing for all Yahoo properties, including 23 international versions. Her awards include American Marketing Association Marketer of the Year, American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement, and BrandWeek Marketers of the Year.

After Yahoo, Karen co-founded Common Sense Media, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families make the best media choices for their children. She was Chief Marketing Officer and helped drive CSM's' growth to become the #1 media and family non-profit organization.In 2004, she became the founding Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer of Glam Media Inc. Karen is credited with developing a strategy to reinvent Glam as an online media company. The Glam media network now reaches over 100MM unique users per month.

Today she advises consumer and technology companies, and serves on the board of the Institute for the Future. Her previous board service includes Red Envelope, 2Wire Inc., OurPictures Inc., Common Sense Media, The Advertising Council, Stanford Alumni Association, Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo, and the Los Angeles Adult Literacy Project.

Karen's earlier career experience includes working at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment as Regional Director for France, Spain and Italy, and Director of Marketing for North America; Assistant Brand Manager at The Clorox Co., Senior Account Executive at BBDO for Apple Computer's advertising; Public Affairs Associate at Chevron USA., and Reporter at The Jakarta Post. Karen earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University.
