Andrea Bloom

Andrea Bloom brings to the Health Horizons Program extensive healthcare experience including expertise in wellness, disease prevention and diabetes.  Andrea is the Founder and CEO of ConnectWell, a wellness programming company that educates, inspires and engages people in wellness activities to reverse the trend of rising healthcare costs while enhancing people’s overall health and well-being.  ConnectWell partners with organizations of all sizes to engage employees who demonstrate “readiness” to embrace wellness practices.  The ConnectWell framework supports individuals in the context of household, work and community in the areas of eating, activity, balance and stress management, for a sustainable approach to wellness for a vibrant life.  In 2011, Andrea was featured in the book Single. Women. Entrepreneurs. which includes interviews from thirty women “solopreneurs” across America. 

Andrea is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of business experience including 15 years in the healthcare industry.  She has served in various product development, marketing, international, business development and consulting roles for medical device, drug delivery, pharma and lab equipment companies and on wellness, disease prevention and disease management programs.  She has worked for leading healthcare companies (Johnson & Johnson, Becton Dickinson, Roche), medical device start-ups (Metrika, iCare, Calibra Medical) and health-related non-profits (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association, Diabetic Youth Foundation, Playworks and Wellness City Challenge).  Andrea worked as a diabetes industry consultant as a Principal at Close Concerns and Cogent Reimbursement Strategies before founding her own consultancy, Diabetes Insights. 

Andrea is a native of the Bay Area where she has been an active advocate in her community for health and wellness.  She serves on the Lifetime Planning Committee of the Pleasanton Unified School District and helped push forward with Wellness Administrative Regulations that were adopted by the school board to create a healthier food, activity and balance environment for the 15,000 students in the school district.  Andrea is a 2020 task force member of the American Heart Association to engage the Greater Bay Area community to improve by 20 percent the cardiovascular health of Americans by 2020.  In Andrea’s everyday life, she makes a difference whether it is helping introduce healthier snacks for her kids’ sports teams or starting a co-ed softball team for adults to experience the joy of sports and help balance their lives. 

Andrea received her BA in Economics from University of California, Berkeley and her MBA from Harvard Business School.
